Aralia

Genus of hardy shrubs, trees, and herbaceous plants of the ivy family Araliaceae, native to North America, Asia, and Australia. A. cachemirica, Kashmir, A. cordata, Japan, and A. nudicaulis, North America, are herbaceous perennials, grown for their effective foliage. The houseplant known as aralia belongs to the related genus Dizygotheca. A. elata, the Japanese angelica tree, grows in mild districts in Britain.
