Cousin, Jean (1490-c. 1560)

French painter of the Fontainebleau School. He produced the first important French painting of a nude, Eva Prima Pandora (Louvre, Paris), a Mannerist work influenced by the Venetian painters Titian and Giorgione.

His son Jean Cousin the Younger (c. 1520-c. 1592) was a painter, goldsmith, miniaturist, sculptor, and engraver. He painted in oils a Last Judgement (Louvre, Paris) with a multitude of nude figures.
