Coyle, Joseph T (1943- )

US psychiatrist. His research was focused on the basic neurological mechanisms responsible for Alzheimer's disease and Huntington's disease. He pioneered studies on the development of brain neurotransmitter systems and showed their relevance to psychiatric disorders.

He was born in Chicago. He became chairman of the department of psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School in 1991.
