| ‘Play with music’ in ten scenes by Marc Blitzstein. The Federal Theater banned the work because it depicted class warfare in Steeltown, USA. At the first performance on 16 June 1937 the cast sang from stalls seats, with the composer at a piano. Orson Welles directed. |
