Cranleigh

Town in Surrey, England, south of Guildford; population (2001) 9,100. Because of the presence of iron ore in the Weald area in which the town lies, Cranleigh was a centre of the iron industry in the Middle Ages.

The private school in Cranleigh was founded in 1863.

Lining the high street are maple trees, planted by Canadian soldiers billeted here during World War I.
