Crater Lake

Lake in southwestern Oregon; area 52 sq km/20 sq mi. It occupies the volcanic crater of Mount Mazama, and is the deepest lake in the USA; depth 589 m/1,932 ft. The lake has no river source or outlet, but is filled by snow and rain (and drained by evaporation). It is now part of Crater Lake National Park (established in 1902).
