Crawford, Joan (1908-1977)US film actor. She became a star with her performance as a flapper in Our Dancing Daughters (1928). Later she appeared as a sultry, often suffering, mature woman. She won an Academy Award for Mildred Pierce (1945). Beginning her career as a chorus girl in 1924, Crawford made her first film appearance in 1925. Her films include Sadie McKee (1934), The Women (1939), Possessed (1947), Sudden Fear (1952), and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962). How to thank TFD for its existence?
