Cressman, George (Palmer) (1919- )

US meteorologist. He founded the joint numerical weather prediction unit at the US Weather Bureau in 1954 and was instrumental in developing worldwide weather prediction capabilities. Director of the US Weather Bureau from 1965-79, he won many awards for his work.

He was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
