City in southwestern Iowa, USA, 80 km/50 mi southwest of Des Moines; seat of Union County; population (2000) 7,600. An agricultural community in the heart of Iowa's bluegrass country, it trades and processes corn and livestock.

In 1890, Creston became the third county seat of Union County, after Afton and Highland.

The principal attraction is the CB and Q depot, an 1899 railway depot which was restored in 1978 and is on the national register of historic places. Southwestern Community College (1926) is situated here. Creston is 5 km/3 mi west of Twelve Mile Lake.
