Criminal Injuries Compensation Board

UK board established in 1964 to administer financial compensation by the state for victims of crimes of violence. Victims can claim compensation for their injuries, but not for damage to property. The compensation awarded is similar to the amount that would be obtained in a court for damages for personal injury.
