City in St Louis County, east-central Missouri, USA, 32 km/20 mi west of St Louis; population (1990) 38,000. It is a growing residential suburb on Route 40, just south of the Missouri River.

Chesterfield

Town in Cheshire County, southwestern New Hampshire, USA, on the Connecticut River, 18 km/11 mi west-southwest of Keene; population (1990) 3,100. A largely agricultural community, the town is also a tourist centre, with Chesterfield Gorge, resorts on Spofford Lake, and Pisgah State Park close by.
