Crosby, John (1926– )

US conductor and administrator. He studied at Yale and Columbia Universities and was coach and conductor at the New York City Opera 1951–56. He founded the Santa Fe Opera in 1956, giving operas by Strauss and many contemporary works. He was president of the Manhattan School of Music 1976–80.
