Croton-on-Hudson

Town in Cortlandt, Westchester County, southeastern New York, USA, on the Hudson River, 54 km/34 mi north of New York City; population (1990) 7,000. It has long attracted writers and artists.

The Croton-Harmon train station is a major commuting point to New York City. Van Cortlandt Manor, the home of the Van Cortlandt family from 1677 until 1945, is a museum.
