Crowe, Cameron (1957– )

US film director, producer, and screenwriter. He first became known during the 1980s for his comic and poignant portrayals of modern teenagers, such as his screenplay for the cult classic Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982). He achieved critical and commercial success directing, writing, and producing the films Jerry Maguire (1996), starring Tom Cruise, and Almost Famous (2000), which won him a 2001 Academy Award for Best Screenplay.

Crowe began his career as a rock journalist. He also wrote and directed the films Say Anything (1989) and Singles (1992). He worked again with Cruise on the film Vanilla Sky in 2001.
