Crozet Archipelago

Crozet Archipelago

Volcanic islands in the southern Indian Ocean at almost equal distances from each other between the Cape of Good Hope and Kerguelen Islands; area 500 sq km/193 sq mi. The Crozet Archipelago is a French overseas territory administered under a special statute as part of the French Southern and Antarctic Territories. The names of the main islands are Possession, East, and Penguin. Sixteen islands are uninhabited and the rest are home mainly to scientific missions.
