Crystal City

City in Jefferson County, southeastern Missouri, USA, 48 km/30 mi south of St Louis and immediately southeast of Festus, on the Mississippi River; population (1990) 4,100. On the site of silica deposits exploited from the 1870s, it was incorporated in 1911 and is a noted producer of plate glass.

In Texas's Winter Garden area, Crystal City took its name from its clear springs.

A statue of a spinach-eating Popeye (1937) is in the town square.
