Crystal River

City in Citrus County, west-central Florida, USA, 84 km/52 mi south-southwest of Gainesville, on the estuarial Crystal River and Crystal Bay, an arm of the Gulf of Mexico; population (1990) 4,000. A noted fishing, oystering, and lumber shipping centre, it is now popular with divers.

The Crystal River nuclear power plant, in operation since 1977, is 11 km/7 mi to the northwest, on the Gulf.
