Csermák, Antal György (c. 1774–1822)

Hungarian violinist and composer. He became leader in a Budapest theatre orchestra and under the influence of the gypsy violinist János Bihari began to cultivate a national style which included verbunkos music. He also pioneered Hungarian chamber music, which incorporated elements from the Viennese classical tradition and the folk music of Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia.
