Cunning Little Vixen, The

Opera by Leoš Janáček (libretto by the composer after R Těsnohlídek's verses for a comic strip published serially in a Brno newspaper during 1920). It was composed 1921–23 and first produced in Brno (Czech Republic) on 6 November 1924. The story tells how the vixen is captured but escapes, marries, and raises a litter. She is shot by a poacher, but her spirit survives in her cubs.
