Cunningham, John Henry Dacres

Cunningham, John Henry Dacres (1885–1962)

British admiral in World War II. He was commander-in-chief in the Mediterranean 1943–46, First Sea Lord 1946–48, and became admiral of the fleet in 1948. KCB 1941.

In 1940 he assisted in the evacuation of Norway and, as Fourth Sea Lord in charge of supplies and transport 1941–43, prepared the way for the North African invasion in 1942.
