Curtea de Argeş

City in Argeş county, Romania, on the River Argeş, a tributary of the Danube, 25 km/15 mi northwest of Piteşti; population (1990) 32,600. Its cathedral dates from the 16th century. The town was capital of Wallachia 1330–83.
