Curtis, Richard

    0.02 sec.

Curtis, Richard (1956– )

New Zealand-born British screenwriter. He is known for his mastery of romantic comedy, and his work reveals a keen eye for the absurdity of human behaviour. He is best known for his collaborations with English actor/comedian Rowan Atkinson in such films as Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) and Notting Hill (1999), and in the TV comedy series Not the 9 O'clock News (1979–82), Blackadder (1983–89), and Mr Bean (1990–95).

Curtis also wrote and produced the popular TV comedy series The Vicar of Dibley (1994– ), starring actor/comedian Dawn French, and wrote and directed the film Love, Actually in 2003.

He was born in New Zealand to Australian parents and studied at Harrow and Christ Church college, Oxford University, where he met Atkinson. He was awarded a CBE in 2000.
