Cuterebridae

Fly family that includes parasites mainly of rodents and rabbits.

The adults are rather large, brownish, hairy flies, with mouthparts that are reduced or vestigial. The larvae of one genus Dermatobia, invades a wide range of host animals, including cattle and horses, and one species, D. hominis, which resembles the bluebottle fly but is found only in Central and South America, often invades human tissue (see myiasis).
