Cuthbert

City in Randolph County, southwestern Georgia, USA, 76 km/47 mi south-southeast of Columbus; population (2000) 3,700. Cuthbert is an agricultural and lumbering centre.

It is home to Andrew College (1854), and is the birthplace (1898) of jazz bandleader and arranger Fletcher Henderson.

Cuthbert Grayne was perhaps more of a criminologist than either a lawyer or a policeman, but in his more barbarous surroundings he had proved successful in turning himself into a practical combination of all three.
