Cutler, Timothy

Cutler, Timothy (1684–1765)

American Protestant clergyman. Ordained in 1710, he was appointed rector of Yale in 1719, but had to resign three years later, after converting to the Church of England. In 1723, he became rector of Christ Church, Boston, and remained there until his death.

He was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, graduated from Harvard at age 17 and his first post was as pastor of the Congregational Church of Stratford, Connecticut.
