Cuyahoga County| County in northern Ohio, USA; area 1,189 sq km/459 sq mi; population (1990) 1,412,100. The county is bounded by Lake Erie to the north, and is drained by the Cuyahoga River, which forms its extreme southeastern border, and the Rocky River. Its seat is Cleveland, which with its many suburbs makes up the majority of the county's area. Manufacturing is centred in and around Cleveland. Farming includes dairy, vegetables, and poultry. The exploitation of gravel, salt, and sand deposits forms an important part of the county's economy. Cuyahoga County is famous for its parks; a total of nine, comprising 3,794 ha/9,369 ac. |
