Cynosarges

Ancient gymnasium outside Athens, Greece. Sacred to Heracles, a hero of Greek mythology, it was for the use of those who were not of pure Athenian blood. The Greek philosopher Antisthenes, who greatly influenced the cynic school of philosophy, taught there.
