Cyprinidae

Fish family with the largest number of species. The family are bony fishes with scaly bodies, naked heads, and toothless mouths. They are to be found in fresh water of the Old World and North America, and over 2,000 have been classified. The carp, goldfish, minnow, dace, loach, chub, roach, tench, and freshwater bream are members of the family.
