Corrèze| Département in the Limousin region of France, area 5,860 sq km/2,263 sq mi; population (1999 est) 232,600. The region is tableland, with hills in the northeast, and is broken up by fertile river valleys. The chief rivers are the Dordogne, Vézère, and Corrèze. The main agricultural activity is the raising of cattle, pigs, and poultry. Industries include the manufacture of metals, textiles, leather, and food. There is an important hydroelectric power station at Bort-les-Orgues. The administrative centre is Tulle. |
| Corrèze is formed from part of the former province of Limousin. Other principal towns are Brive and Ussel. |
