Dabrowa Górnicza

Industrial city in Katowice province, Poland, 25 km/16 mi east of Katowice; population (1993 est) 139,700. At the centre of a coal basin, it also produces iron, zinc, and steel. It became Prussian 1795, part of Russian Poland 1815, and was ceded to Poland 1919.
