Dadd, Richard (1817–1886)English painter. In 1843 he murdered his father and was committed to an asylum, but continued to paint minutely detailed pictures of fantasies and fairy tales, such as The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke (1855–64; Tate Gallery, London).
