Dagobert I (605–639)

Merovingian king of the Franks from 629. He was the son of Clotaire II, and was a patron of the arts and a legal reformer. Dagobert made Paris his capital. He reunited the Frankish empire, but it was divided again at his death, and he was succeeded by his sons Clovis II and Sigebert II.
