Dahl, Sophie

    0.02 sec.

Dahl, Sophie (1979– )

English fashion model. She became popular as a plus-size model, defying norms with a voluptuous figure, and is credited with popularizing curves in a waif-laden industry.

As the model for a campaign for Yves Saint Laurent's Opium perfume, she stirred controversy with a nude, suggestive pose on billboards in the UK. The advertisement was banned by the Advertising Standards Authority in 2000.

Her grandfather was the writer Roald Dahl, and she served as the inspiration for the young girl who befriends a giant in his children's novel The BFG. She published a novella, the ‘adult fairytale’ The Man with the Dancing Eyes, in 2003. She has also appeared in films, for example the George Best biopic Best (2000), the Al Pacino crime drama People I Know (2002), and the drama remake Little Fugitive (2006).
