Dahlak Islands

Island group off the coast of Eritrea, situated in the Red Sea off the Bay of Massawa, and about 50 km/31 mi east of the port of Massawa. The group comprises three larger islands with numerous rocky outcrops. Exploration for oil here began in 1988.

The islands were known to the Romans for their pearl fisheries.
