Dai Nippon Teikoku

Official name of Japan between 1889 and 1945. It was discontinued because of its imperialist overtones.

The Dai Nippon Teikoku Rikugun's (Imperial Japanese Army's) deadly biological warfare programme of 1932-45 was conducted at the research facility called Unit 731.
Japan's efforts to modernise the homeland, alas, allowed her to go down the militaristic road wherein the new found Dai Nippon Teikoku (Empire of Great Japan) confronted its neighbours and beyond.
History has been kindest to Japan when she has not tried to be Dai Nippon Teikoku (Empire of Great Japan), so the decision to be a 'small Nihon Koku' (State of Japan), would seem to be most likely to be in the best interests of the nation.
