| Town in East Ayrshire unitary authority, Scotland, 33 km/21 mi south of Kilmarnock; combined population with Bumton (1991) 1,600. Coal and iron have been worked locally since the 11th century. There is an open cast mine between Dalmellington and New Cumnock to the northeast. |
