Daly City

City in San Mateo County, north-central California; population (1990) 92,311. It is situated to the southwest of San Francisco, on the Pacific Ocean. A dairy and truck farming area from the 1850s, it grew rapidly after World War II to become part of the continuous urban band extending south from San Francisco.
