Dame blanche, La

Opera by François Boieldieu (libretto by Augustin Scribe, based on Walter Scott's Guy Mannering and The Monastery), first produced at the Opéra-Comique, Paris, France, on 10 December 1825. It contains some Scottish tunes. In the story, George Brown prevents the castle from falling into the wrong hands at an auction. With help from the orphan Anna, it is revealed that George is actually the missing heir, Julien Avenel.
