Damodar

Indian river flowing 560 km/350 mi from Chota Nagpur plateau in Jharkhand, through Jharkhand and West Bengal states to join the Hooghly River 40 km/25 mi southwest of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta). The Damodar Valley is an industrial centre with a hydroelectric project, combined with irrigation works.
