Hill, Damon (1960– )

English racing driver. He won his first Grand Prix in Hungary in 1993. In both 1994 and 1995 he finished as runner-up to Michael Schumacher in the Drivers' Championship. He won the 1996 Formula 1 World Drivers' Championship, leading the competition from start to finish, winning eight races and finishing 19 points ahead of his nearest rival. In June 1999, he announced his retirement from Formula 1.

The son of Graham Hill, he began his Formula 1 racing career with Brabham in 1992 before replacing Nigel Mansell at Williams, who had used him as a test driver. He joined the TWR Arrows team for the 1997 season after Williams did not renew his contract, and moved to the Jordan team in 1998.

Ex-world Formula One champion Damon Hill said: "Our ability to demonstrate an impressive track record in the Midlands was one of the factors that helped us win the Audi franchise.
The Damon Hill team estimates it will take more than 500 hours to meet the strict preparation deadlines, hand finishing some elements in the traditional way.
