Dance, Charles (1946– )

English film and television actor. He became known in the UK and the USA for his suave and debonair on-screen persona when he played the sympathetic Guy Perron in The Jewel in the Crown (1984). He gave a striking performance alongside Meryl Streep in Plenty (1986), and has also appeared in White Mischief (1988), China Moon (1994), Michael Collins (1996), Gosford Park (2001), and Swimming Pool (2003).

He has also appeared in the television films Out on a Limb (1987, opposite Shirley MacLaine), The Phantom of the Opera (1990, in the title role), The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (2001), Henry VIII (2003), and the series Trial & Retribution VII (2003).

His television appearances include First Born (1989).
