Dane County

County in south Wisconsin; area 3,121 sq km/1,205 sq mi; population (1990) 367,085. It is bordered by the Wisconsin River to the northwest. Its administrative headquarters is Madison. The Yahara and Sugar rivers flow through the county, which also contains a number of lakes, including the Four Lakes. Mainly agricultural, the county has some industry localized in Madison and Stoughton.
