Daniel, Glyn Edmund (1914–1986)

Welsh archaeologist, broadcaster, writer, and editor. He was prominent in the development of archaeology and the study of its history. His books include Megaliths in History 1973, France before the Romans 1974 (with others), 150 Years of Archaeology 1975, and A Short History of Archaeology 1981.

Daniel was professor of archaeology at Cambridge 1974–81. In 1958, he succeeded the field archaeologist Osbert Crawford as editor of the journal Antiquity. Aside from his archaeological works, he also wrote two detective stories.
