Daniels, Robert Vincent (1926- )

US Slavic specialist, politician, and author. He was a long-standing and prominent academic at the University of Vermont. He was also a Vermont state senator and a member of the Democratic National Platform Committee. He wrote extensively on Eastern Europe.

He was born in Boston, Massachusetts. His career at the University of Vermont began in 1964. While there, he directed the Center for Area Studies (1962-65), chaired the history department (1964-69), and was director of an experimental program of the College of Arts and Sciences (1969-71). As state senator (1973-82), he focused his concerns on healthcare.
