Danube Commission

Organization that ensures the freedom of navigation on the River Danube, from Ulm in Germany to the Black Sea, to people, shipping, and merchandise of all states, in conformity with the Danube Convention 1948. The commission comprises representatives of all the states through which the Danube flows: Germany, Austria, Slovak Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, and Romania. Its headquarters are in Budapest, Hungary.

Never in my life have I seen the river this low" says Danail Nedialkov, a retired Bulgarian riverboat captain who is now general director of the Danube Commission, the Budapest-based body responsible for managing navigation on the international waterway.
Chairman Cardenas said that the Danube Commission - a watchdog body set up by riparian States - had informed the Sanctions Committee on 22 june that it was satisfied with the completion of preparations for the repairs to the locks on the right bank.
