Danzi, Franz (1763–1826)| German cellist and composer. He was a minor member of the Mannheim school of symphonists. A pupil of Georg Vogler, he was a member of the court band in Mannheim and, from 1778, in Munich. He was Kapellmeister to the court of Württemberg in Stuttgart, and later in Karlsruhe. |
Works the operas Die Mitternachtsstunde (1788), Turandot (after Gozzi; 1817); church music; symphonies, concertos and concertantes; chamber music. |
