Darwen

Town in Lancashire, England, 27 km/17 mi northwest of Manchester; population (2001) 31,600. Darwen has paper mills, engineering, plastics, and paint industries. It was formerly a cotton-manufacturing town.

Health officials wrote to 500 patients and former patients at a surgery in Darwen, Lancashire, after concerns were raised over an 'inadequate cleaning process'.
It is anticipated that the Calder Field's initial production would be followed in future years by gas flow from the Crossans and Darwen fields.
Within the next few weeks the manufacturing of all Anaglypta(R) and Lincrusta(R) products will be transferred to IHDG's factories in Darwen, Lancashire, England and Morcambe, Lancashire, England and Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.
