turban

Headwear commonly worn by Muslim and Sikh men. It is formed from a long piece of fine linen wound around the head. The turban has inspired many fashion headwear styles throughout the 20th century, very often for women.

The issue goes back almost 30 years to a case in Eugene in which a Sikh teacher was suspended from her job in Eugene for wearing a turban, or dastaar, to school.
