Dauvergne, Antoine (1713–1797)

French violinist and composer. He was a pupil of his father, Jacques Dauvergne. He played at Clermont-Ferrand and went to Paris in 1739 as violinist in the court chamber music and in 1744 played at the Opéra. In 1762 he became one of the directors of the Concert Spirituel and later was manager of the Opéra.

Works

over 20 operas and other stage works, for example Les Amours de Tempé (1752), Les Troqueurs (1753); motets; symphonies, divertimenti; violin sonatas.
