David Copperfield

Novel by Charles Dickens, published 1849-50. The story follows the orphan David Copperfield from his school days and early poverty to eventual fame as an author. Among the characters he encounters are Mr Micawber, Mr Peggotty, and Uriah Heep. It is perhaps the most popular of Dickens' novels and it was his own favourite.
